The special focus issue is guest-edited by William Cho of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Kowloon, Hong Kong) and explores the current challenges and future directions in discovering and translating protein biomarkers to clinically useful markers of cancer, with the aim of advancing therapy and allowing earlier and more accurate diagnosis of this still wide-reaching and lethal disease.
